WHAT CLIENTS SAY:

Ernest Fleischmann
I have found [Rachel] to be a gifted architect, with an excellent design eye and an uncanny ability to come up with solutions to tricky problems. She showed a keen interest in researching construction methods and original materials. For example, for the kitchen countertops she found a beautiful type of plaster that had been used by Rudolf Schindler but had not been in use for many years. Rachel worked very well with the construction people, and I was impressed with the quiet authority with which she carried out her tasks, to which she brought a remarkable sense of commitment, which was particularly important because of my frequent absences from Los Angeles.

The single most outstanding feature of working with RAA was her professionalism. She was totally able to deal with our contractor and subs... We appreciated her attention to detail, which encompassed design, budget and time. RAA took and sent minutes of all meetings with the contractor in a very timely manner, which stood us in good stead. Most of all, we felt that she was always representing our interest. Our project was the home of our dreams. We love mid-century architecture and the house had great bones with all the elements of mid-century design. The interior was updated with our wish list always in mind. RAA was invaluable in helping us in accessory selections that are in keeping with the aesthetics of modern design. The kitchen is the heart of our home and we have enjoyed cooking, living and entertaining in it. We believe the remodel has greatly enhanced the value of our home, although we have no intention of selling.

It was truly great to work with Rachel Allen. She was there for me every step of the way... I love my office and my home and there is nothing I would change.

Rachel helped me to sense and picture that which I could not see or fully describe on my own. The design was as much about the feel of the space as its appearance. Rachel brought the feeling I was hoping for into both form and function.
Through the inevitable stress and anxiety of the process, Rachel remained (and helped me to remain) calm, cool and collected. Though she offered alternatives at every turn, I never felt that the result or the initial idea for the project was compromised by cost or time constraints.

The whole process with Rachel was inspiring, and a great learning experience for me and my small son. We saw Rachel's drawings and models come to life, and it was always a treat to have my son involved during Rachel's many visits to the site before, during and after construction.

Rachel's excellent communication skills helped avoid confusion and conflict, and I always felt that I knew where the project stood and where it was headed. Her careful documentation of our conversations with the builder saved me thousands of dollars by the end of the project.
