Project Architect, Gehry Partners, LLP
Gardens by Nancy Goslee Powers and Associates

Remodel and renovation of Ernest Fleischmann's Hollywood Hills home (the former executive director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic). Emphasis was on opening up the interiors to the outside, so that the majority of the budget could be spent on the garden.

June Taylor is a Berkeley based preserve maker who specializes in creating a spectrum of mouth-watering, culinary treasures, each hand crafted in small batches from heirloom and long forgotten fruits.

We were proud to assist in the conversion of an anonymous 4th Street industrial building into her teaching kitchen and store, which she calls The Still Room. The project differs from an ordinary commercial kitchen especially in its emphasis on natural light, which is used to judge the progress of the fruit.

Proposal for a floating city above Pompeii, or any other archaeological excavation. A flexible truss system with movable structures overhead would provide very important shade for the long hours of labor in a dig, and would locate short- and long-term housing and food service in close proximity to the workers and tourists below.

October Surprise was an attempt to engage the politics and culture of Northeast Los Angeles through site-specific interventions. Over 45 projects and performance events made a memorable impact on the neighborhood.

Like the caricaturists who draw cartoon portraits of tourists in public - but instead of drawing faces, RA drew buildings. For 15 minute sessions she worked with whoever was interested to create a collaborative drawing of their imaginary ideal living environment, their Dream House.

GROUP EFFORT was a collaboration between RAA, Liz Anderson and Kimberly Varella of the Department of Graphic Sciences, Allen Compton of SALT, and Dave King of DTK Builders. Together we submitted a project entitled GIMME SHELTER to the Silver Lake Streetscape Design Competition for Sunset Junction.

We proposed to spend the entire budget on a single, very large California sycamore, and to convert the existing intersection to an all-cross, diagonal pedestrian operation.</description>
