The owner of an art foundry and a screenwriter/director bought this pretty 1920s cottage adjoining Elysian Park. Visible from Sunset Boulevard, it had been previously published in Freestyle, the 1986 Tim Street-Porter anthology of Post-Modern design in Los Angeles.

It has been completely gutted, the original structure to be left exposed, and a master bedroom suite and sculptural interior stair added below and to the north. A two-story exterior steel deck will face the western views, with a rough galvanized finish inspired by CalTrans freeway fittings.
